Week 8

Current weight 13 stone 11.75…which is roughly 87.88kg or 193.75lbs

A loss of a lb, and I just wanted to share that when I started 8 weeks ago starting weight 14 stone 5 which is roughly 91kg or 201lbs so in total I have now lost 7.25 lbs which is roughly 3.12kg. Not bad for eating 5 times a day and not currently being able to jog due to injury! So very little exercise was involved, I do swim once a week but as I hate swimming with a passion, trust me swimming fast is not something I do…

I have made interesting discoveries since I have switched the website over, take note, although you should get an email when I post a blog, apparently as I add pages we do not get informed, although it is moving slowly I am starting to add the recipe pages. Under Dinner we have all the pizzas I have tried and now the vegetarian chilli I make.

I do have more recipes to include and these will be added slowly under Recipes, clicking on Recipes then using the drop down or the + button to select which meal and then the item.

Please feel free to share this with your friends and family, I would like to have more sharing on the website and if anyone has something they wish me to try and make a less calorific version of let me know, even I can only eat so many pizzas but have one more with ‘pineapple’ at the request of a friend to try!

Week 7

Current weight 13 stone 12.75…which is roughly 88.34kg or 194.75lbs.

So, the astute amongst you will notice I have not lost or gained, after an Indian last Tuesday and Japanese last Friday I am very happy with this as I managed to not gain weight from it.

So, welcome to the new site Healthy Body Healthy Bank and somewhere on the page near the bottom is the RSS feed and follow button (I shall be moving that once I can!) note the twitter share is not yet working as I want but will soon.

Coming this weekend, pizza toppings, what works and what doesn’t!

Breakfast muffins, vegetarian and meat loving.

Risotto! Can it be a cheap meal…we shall see!

Week 6

Yes! As you can see finally down in to the 13’s and so happy for myself.

This past week you may have noticed I had not posted a blog as I normally do, that is despite trying a couple of new food ideas being back at work took more time than I had intended. In addition to this and the main reason is the blog is moving, hopefully by the end of this coming weekend so watch out for the new blog which is hosted by me and allows me a little bit more freedom.

I am with this post putting it in both blogs as it is not quite ready to move over, but once it is a post will appear sharing how you can access it and what you need to click to continue following me on my journey.

Just as a little taster, I have been looking at more breakfasts over the weekend and tried breakfast muffins which I have to say taste delicious!

I took it from here and although I made minor changes they still tasted yummy!

Whisk the eggs

Add all ingredients…

I only added spring onion not ham

Chopped up some mozzarella

Added the cheese when half full

Then covered the top

Bake for 30 minutes

Leave to cool…

Things I have learnt…do not use a hand blender when mixing the ingredients together, although still delicious not as fluffy looking as the picture, I think I blended the air out!

Be easy if you go for spring onion, perhaps I added a bit too much, I love onion but not sure I want it that strong for breakfast.

Using a jug was the best way to be able to pour them into the muffin tin, I now need to invest in a cooler rack though!

Week 5

Current weight 14 stone 1…which is roughly 89.35kg or 197lbs.

Was hoping to break into the 13’s this week but a Saturday party and then a Sunday party didn’t help, but 1lb is the right direction!

This week, however,  I want to talk about food with regard to cost. Last month (as in July, yes I know we are now in September!) I discovered I spent about £376 on food. I know this is as I use an app/program called YNAB to track my spending and help me save and reduce debt. I have been using if for over a year and so if you want more info DM me. You get to try it for 34 days for free as well.

Now for August I managed to keep every single receipt that I spent on food. I allocated myself £200 as I felt £50 a week is actually more than enough to feed me and sometimes think impulse buying takes control and does nothing for my diet or my bank balance!

So, for August, I did actually get it down to £241.79 which is over my budget so today I set about finding out what I actually spent that much money on. I also made some changes during August in where I shopped as well as being on leave from work for at least 2 weeks which does have implications.

Money spent on actual food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks: £150.16

£80.19 – Waitrose, £32.09 – Tesco, £24.38 Lidl, £6.99 – Thai shop, £6.51 – Wholefood Shop.

(I shop at Waitrose (before people tell me it is costly!) because it is nearest to me but have recently started to go to Lidl. This month I didn’t shop in Aldi but I do normally buy certain food there too I should add.)

Money spent on meals out but not budgeted for: £55.72

£23.10 – Nando’s, £23.63 – Cote Brassiere, £1.99 – McDonald’s, £7 – Chips from Chippie.

Money spent on Fizzy Drinks and other not needed items: £104.46

£8 – Beale Park gift Shop, £10.70 – Dover Street News, £13 – The Shakespeare Pub, £11.43 – Oaten Hill newsagent, £1.40 – Boots, £27.25 – University library (sadly that was mostly fizzy drinks). £30 – Cash Point (spent on food and drinks only). £10.68 – Various supermarkets for alcohol…

Now…if you add that all up it actually comes to £310.34 but some of these items were paid for on my credit card because they were not budgeted for so £68.55 extra. The area that concerns me most is the bottom money spent on fizzy drinks and other not needed items. One for me to look at now and then perhaps in November do a receipt keep again to see if I have improved. As apart from a few drinks in the month I should easily be able to get this below £200 and I still think that is a lot but it is my current target. I would be curious to know what others spend on a monthly shop be it for those shopping for 1 to those with a family be it small or large.
